Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

August 25, 2008 in Crafts, Creativity, Friendship, Scrapbooking, Technology

Gjwhf Former staffer and master scrapbooker, Robin, just shared her latest project with us. In honor of her annual GJWHF (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun) weekend in San Francisco she made everyone their own custom Word Album with her well used Cricut. So not only did these lucky girls get to spend the weekend in San Fran – they were each the recipient of these darling albums that are all primed and ready to add their photos.  Don’t worry, Robin will take plenty of photos to fill them too. She also custom printed M&M’s that filled the little round suitcases. M&M colors were pink, dark pink and white and featured their mottos, “GJWHF 2008” and “Shop ‘til you drop!”

Robinsgirls_3 Robin, a big believer in the Cricut also let us know that Provo Craft is coming out with a new heavy duty blade and housing unit that will cut chipboard, magnet sheets, rubber sheets (to cut your own rubber stamps), and more.

Forever Family

August 11, 2008 in Creativity, Family, Quotes

Quoteaugust08 There is very little in our lives and in our world that doesn’t change. And change seems to roll in faster than ever. It seems once you think you have something (or someone) figured out, it changes! When I look back at all the different chapters of my life, it’s surprising to realize how the stories and characters continue to change. Debbiesfam I also recognize how different I am and how I continue to change too. (Although, I’m hoping, for the better ~ opinions may vary on that.) You do start to wonder if there is anything that is constant. For many of us there are certain people that we can always count on to remain a part of our lives at least in spirit and that is family. Kris offers us the following Quote of the Month for August; “Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.”

Back in Business & Easier to Navigate

August 8, 2008 in Current Affairs, Technology

Product You may have noticed that for several weeks our shopping cart has been on vacation. Vacation is over and we’re back in business. Although many of the updates are “behind the scenes” - as a result, the cart is now more user-friendly. You’ll find larger images and the products are better organized for your shopping ease. For instance if you go to “Scrapbooking” – that will give you subcategories of Accessories, Albums, Paper and Stickers. Hopefully, this will make it easier if you’re looking for something specific. 1988So, please browse the aisles and I hope you find some great treasures. Good news – all our  2009 Calendars are now in stock.  If you’re one of the many who were looking for a 2008 Engagement Calendar, we listened to your requests and I’m pleased to announce that the 2009 Engagement Calendar is now available through our site. Take a look!

Cleaned Out!

August 5, 2008

Img_0906 Img_0904 At long last, I got to have my postponed Garage Sale. (Postponed due to my unanticipated attack of Appendicitis)  Because I’m a planner and because of scheduling issues, I started setting up in June.  Anna & Murphy were my hired hands and they helped me drag, haul, mark, price and set up. Our motto was “Great Stuff! Img_0905 Great Prices!” and vowed to have no junk. These were all primarily points of personal pride and reputation.

After a month and a half of parking on my driveway (because my garage was bursting at the seams with stuff), the day finally came. My ads were placed, the signs were posted, the donut holes were purchased, the cash box was full of “ones” and my alarm was set for 6:00 am. Our start time was 9:00 am and the first “early” I noticed was there at 7:45.  Img_0907 “I haven’t had my coffee yet, please come back,” I hollered out to her. She sped off in a slight “huff.” The hard part is doing all that last minute set up while people are trying to push their way in. We held them off until about 8:10 am, but by then there was no stopping them. It was like the excitement you might feel shopping in Filene’s basement. The mild aggression included a little grabbing, hoarding and eye-balling what was in each other’s arms (just in case they set it back down) - but mostly I had happy customers that were thrilled to have happened upon a treasure trove of goodies. Img_0908 I snapped a couple photos of some of our piles of stuff before we opened; but once the crowds rolled in - I didn’t have the where with all (or a free hand) to take any more photos.

After what felt like a couple of hours, I glanced at my watch to see that it was now 8:50 am - we had done the lion’s share of our business before we had officially opened! By closing time (2:00pm), we had packed up our remaining items for Goodwill, put away our tables and tablecloths, swept out my now spacious feeling garage, had tuna sandwiches for lunch and polished off the last of the donut holes.  All in all, it was a big success!
